I was curious about all the posts from our Aussie members discussing a single seat for the FJ. In my ignorance I thought if they wanted a single seat sell the FJ and buy a cafe racer. Then I read the post from Timbo-1 and looked at his link to the AUS FJR site. QLD charges $438.40 for a "normal" registration and $243.80 for a single seat registration! This sounds high but it also includes the insurance. Now I see the light. I license and insure(liability only) 4 bikes a year in Texas for not alot more than the Aussies spend on one. However if I lived in QLD I would cut the back half of the seat off and mount a Hayabusa tail with a gas tank inside. Then the FJ would look like a Hayabusa and the registration would be almost cut in half. Good for a long trip but I would reinstall the regular seat around town. Dave
A pistol is like a parachute, if you need one and don't have one you will never need one again.

Not a bad idea about the extra tank and seat cowl Dave, I know there's bikes available now where you can put a cowl over the seat to make it look like a single seater, and then pull it off when you want to carry a passenger and still look good either way. So if we could get someone to design something along those lines that would suit the look of the FJ, weather it incorporates a spare tank, or just a cover for the seat, then I think they might be onto a winner. :good:

Concerning the price of rego, the main cost is compulsory third party insurance that covers personal injury in case of an accident, whereas vehicle third party insurance ( non compulsory ) covers damage to the other vehicle or property, so if you have an accident( your fault )in/on something that's not registered and someone else get hurt or killed, well then your up shit creek without a paddle and liable for all the costs associated, hence the cheaper fees for single seat against full rego.

Still, Queensland is a lot better off than the southern states where I hear rego is closer to a thousand dollars a year.

Too young to be old but old enough to know better.

Yeah well 400 is still alot cheaper then my ute at around 900 a year, damn rediculous just to put a vehicle on the road legally. Its a shame that the mod plate is over 200 to change from dual to single but i guess you make it back in the first year. Busa tail would look awesome, i have an 99 r1 tail sitting here that i thought about swaping over but ran out of energy to do so.
