is the rpm shift detent kit easy to install, like the type of thing that can be done alongside a clutch rebuild?

k.
If you're doing a clutch rebuild, it's the ideal time to fit the RPM shift kit. Did mine a couple of weeks ago, simple job and the difference is unbelievable.
Pete.   :good2:

cool, that's exactly what I wanted to hear dude, noice.

some of the blokes on the uk xjr websites seem to think that the fj12 cams are the better of all the stock cams available for our engine format.
but from what I've seen, ok I cant account for duration figures in this instance, there are only two different specifications, the California spec 7.7mm lift cams, and the uk spec 8mm lift ones, and either spec can be installed in fj 11's or 12's, and xjr 12's or 13's, depending on the destination of the machine from new.

are there any other reasons to believe that fj12 heads and/or cams are superior to the rest?

from what I've seen there are good aftermarket camshaft options anyway, Webb cams for instance, with anything up to 10mm lift, with a 9mm one that I've eyed off for while, if I were ever to build that street strip 1349 one day.

any one know much about the camshaft specs of fj's?

ok, brakes and clutch bled and bike tested, all's well.

tying the lever back didn't work, neither did priming the m/c by loosening off its banjo and pumping, but it did defo have air in the m/c, after pushing the pads back and bleeding whilst doing so I started getting some feel at the lever, and normal bleeding resumed from there, with a very strong lever achieved shortly after, sorted, double checked, and done.

actually I only fitted the braided brake and clutch lines out of necessity, I got some new bar risers in the mail last week and could hardly wait to fit them, quickly finding out that the old stock brake and crutch lines weren't long enough, I had the hel braided lines since Christmas and was waiting for a suitable excuse to fit them, so checked the lengths out, looked good, so off I went.

running the cables, wires and lines for optimum fit was a bit of a pain in arse actually, and cost me much more time than the drama's in bleeding the brakes, but you only do these things once I guess, might as well get it set up as best you can to save having to pull it all back down in the future.

in the end, biggest drama was throttle cables, as I don't have any extended ones on me, they reached, but the bend tightens up and because they cant be routed the original way drama's with stopping kinking was a bit of an issue, reckon I got it sorted now though.

ill go for a proper ride before deciding if I'm going to drop the forks and fit new dust seals, and maybe polish them as well, or just fit the fork brace straight up.

from the test ride, I'm well happy with the new bar position, should be much more comfortable on my day long rides, these xjr's have a these bloody long 22L tanks and the stretch to the bars grinds you down, I've modified the seat to get me as far forward as I can get, but now these new up and back bar risers have made a big improvement.

cheers for the advice with the brakes you blokes, much appreciated. :good2:

so no takers on camshafts then? :unknown:
