Jacket Recommendation

For dual sport patrol at work, I was issued a Fox 360 riding jacket.  I like the versatility of an armored lightweight shell jacket with adjustable venting that allows for layering underneath.  Unfortunately, it looks like Fox discontinued this product.  Does anyone know of a similar product I can use for commuting on my FJ?  Doesn't have to be Fox, and I also don't need it to color match for the Power Ranger effect.  Thanks!

I've been using a TourMaster Transitions II jacket for a couple of years.

Anyhow, it came with removable elbow, shoulder, back armor, and zip-in/out thermal liner.
Lots of pockets, including on the inside of both the jacket and liner and lots of vents.
The vents on the shoulder are "scoop" vents that actually do bring cool air into the jacket.
I'll buy another when this one gets too tatty.

+1 on the Transitions jacket. Well-made, fits good, warm with the liner, comfy without even when it's pretty toasty outside. Very good ventilation; in addition to the shoulder, chest, and forearm vents, there's a back vent that allows very good flow-through.

I have just about settled on this (transition III) as my next jacket.  How's it in the rain?  Do you need a rainsuit over/under or will it do the job by itself. 

I just can't justify the money to buy Goretex.. don't ride that much especially in the rain.  but it would be nice to not have to carry a bulky rainsuit.

Though it doesn't have all the same features, I'd suggest the FirstGear Kenya Jacket.  Though it may not be the most comfortable during the heat of summer, it is a great 3 season jacket especially for Fall. Winter, and Spring.

I just can't justify the money to buy Goretex.. don't ride that much especially in the rain.  but it would be nice to not have to carry a bulky rainsuit.

Its pretty good in normal rain.  In a downpour, it does let some water through.  I bought a FrogToggs jacket large enough to go over it at WalMart for $25 last time I was in the US to give me one more "waterproof" layer.  Haven't had to try it yet.

I'll second that, and I do the same thing. Rain protection is very good in anything less than a total downpour; at speed it can leak just a bit at the bicep vents. I keep a Frogtoggs jacket (in an obnoxious color) in one of the bags.

Thanks for the info, I could live with that..  I have started carrying a joe rocket brand rain liner that goes under the riding jacket..  A lot smaller to pack than a coat that goes over top.  I could carry that on longer trips,  but a mostly waterproof jacket would work 99% time.

Where I live we really only have two seasons, summer and winter.  So I'm either riding in 100*F+ or 30*F-.  I like the look and features of the Transition III, but it looks like even with the liner removed it might still be a bit heavy for summer commuting.
