........so there I am, just tootling along, enjoying a short ride, haven't been out on the FJ for 2 weeks. Come up to a road that intersects with the highway from the right. There is a Toyota  Camry coming toward me from the opposite direction. Now the fun begins...... a crack head SOB in a Dodge Dakota blasts up to the stop  sign on my right, runs halfway out in my lane, sees that the other lane is full of Camry, then cuts back into the ditch and goes by me on my  RIGHT.  :shok:
Well, after chasing him down, screaming at him through a closed window, in a full face helmet, letting him know he was number one in my book ( which was going on in front of one of our local police officers, who is apparently used to watching motorcyclists scream at and flip off crack heads in beat up Dodge Dakotas),  then Crack Head dives across 2 lanes of traffic into, you guessed it, the WalMart parking lot.
Now that I'm home and have stopped shaking, I'm pretty embarrassed  by my reaction, I'm usually a little calmer than that. :pardon:
Just keep your eyes open.....

I've been travelling the same route 25 miles to and from work for about 17 years, the roads are rural, with a mixture of single track and ,c and b roads, which to you Americans wont mean much but trust me they are small, quiet and slow, on some of these roads it would be hard (dangerous) to try to travel at the speed limit(60mph)
At least one of these roads judging by the tyre marks in the frost in winter is only used by two other vehicles a day

for the past year been giving my son a lift to  his work on the way to mine, I stopped counting , long ago, the number of dickheads that put  my life in danger and just cope with them but he reckons we have at least one incident  a month.  This may seem bad enough but considering that on average we only see about 10 other road users, (his estimate)on the way in and about double that on the way home, on rural roads in the Scottish borders, I am starting to think that I should "educate" them and react more like you did, joe

I am doubtful that you can deliver a lasting education to the average dickhead driver that wouldn't include the involvement of the local law enforcement agency. And I am not the least bit interested in sharing a cell with Bubba. I really don't recommend doing anything stupid, I plan on taking a breather next time a moron passes me on the right, missing me by about 4 feet.

This subject makes me think of two bits of what I consider "good" advice...even if I don't follow through in the heat if the moment dealing with a discourteous cage jockey:

Dad-don't be dead right...
Wife-always assume the other person WILL do the "wrong" thing, that way you won't be surprised when they do it...which should cause you to refer to dad's advice

Glad you are ok dude, as I am for every rider who makes it home safely!

That's a better way to approach it.  Just expect other vehicles will do anything.  Sometimes they are morons and sometimes just shit happens.  Stay focused on your game and do what it takes to stay alive.   :morning1:

This kinda shit happens just about every time Im out there on a bike. I give everybody alot of room if Im in a car or on a bike. People who treat us like that dont ride or theyve never crashed or lost a friend due to someones stupid driving! My biggest gripe has allways been those assholes who gotta get right up on yer ass no matter how fast you go or try to get away. I used to carry old spark plugs in my jacket and toss them over my shoulder when they didnt back off... worked every time! Now I just stand up, its just as effective and freaks em out. Ha ha ha!                                                        Be safe my friend and watch out for them cuz they arent watching out for us!!!                                                                                                                                               Charley.
