I know, we all have stories. But it never affects you as much as when it happens to you.
As I rode the FJ to work this morning, I was on a 2-lane highway. A car was coming toward me, then a car behind that one pulled out into MY lane to pass. I swerved to the right side of my lane as the car went past me IN MY LANE. That's THREE vehicles in TWO lanes going opposite directions at 60 MPH. There are no shoulders here. Only dirt, so nowhere to go.

As you know, this could have been another fatality story in literally one second. Head-on with a car will never end well.

I HATE SHARING LANES WITH CARS. It's happened to me a few times now. Guys, please be vigilant. Not sure what we can learn from this. Some things happen out of our control.

In a way, I'd say you were lucky you were on your bike and managed to avoid it. Might'n have been so lucky if you were in a car.

Too young to be old but old enough to know better.

Things can happen so quickly and staying alert 100% of the time is so important.
Yesterday I was in a parking lot and rode past 2 couples from out of state on Harleys. I was looking at their license plates to see where they were from, when a lady in a Suburban parked in the spot next to them started backing out right in front of me.
In that momentary distraction of turning my head to look at the plates, I almost smacked into the side of her Suburban. Got my heart going a little, and I was embarrassed I wasn't paying attention like I should have been.

I wonder if the fact thats 1. you were on a bike and 2. moved over - caused him to continue with the pass.  If you were in a car - he probably would have ducked back in.  asshole.

Crap just like this made me give up commuting by bike.

I think some car drivers consider that "lane splitting"
