Here is a crazy out of the blue topic... I was out fishing this morning and spotted an upside down sunk boat... Not anyone around or any houses nearby... Its a fiberglass boat... Almost looks like a skeeter bass boat... A small portion of the back is above water... Looks like it has been there a few days due to the moss starting to form on the bottom.. Here is the question, how would I go about getting it off the bottom of the lake?? I don't want to pay anyone... I wanna try to do it myself with the help of a buddy..

You can try with an air compressor and hose to put air underneath it but if there is a hole in the bottom it will not work.

WAs thinking the same thing....how about getting an inner tube from a tractor and lashing it under and then inflating it?

If it's only been there a few days, keep in mind that the owner of that boat may be trying to figure out the same thing.

When I had a Yamaha SX230 twin jet boat, the forum I was on had a member who got his stuck in about 6" of water in a very large lake in Texas.  It was nearly a mile from any shore and the depth was 6-8" in every direction (those things will plane in VERY shallow water).  He and his buddies hiked out of there and he posted his situation up on yamahajetboaters.  We all chimed in for over two months.  Helicopter?  Trash pump?  Build a "lock" out of plywood?  Tug it with a hovercraft?  Hope it rains to raise the lake water level?  After three months of fun ideas and one of the longest running threads on that board, they finally got four days of heavy rain and he hiked back out to it and drove it out.

If it has current registration stickers on it, it ought to be easy to find the current owner...He may just tell you to take it if you can get it out.  As others have said, air bagging it somehow is the way the recovery folks would approach it.

If it has a eyelet in the bow and you got a boat, tie a bowlin in the eyelet, tie the line to the clete of your boat and come on to her. Haul it to shore.

Try bubbling air into it while it is inverted...  you could use one of those high volume, low pressure tow toy inflator things and see if you can displace enough water to float it upside down and get it out of there.

I looked at it today.... No engine... All I have is a small John boat, a towable adult size tube, air compressor, ratchet tiedown straps, a tow chain, some thick rope couple of buddies...

I'm thinkin of goin after it tomorrow... Looked underneath it yesterday and saw the model number... 2003 skeeter was all I could make out.... Also looked like it is hung up on a stump... This lake is full of trees and stumps

from the google search, it looks nice..course none of the pics showed one upside down on a stump.. remember, pics of the salvage operation, if possible...
