I received my FZ1 swingarm, shock and link arm. I'm going to use all the FZ1 components and have worked out the obstacles to fitting it up but noticed the stock FJ shock is offset to the left side.

Not sure why it's offset? I intend to mount the FZ1 swinger and shock centerline, weld new shock mounting tabs centered.

Anyone have any insight on this? Or reason not to install the new one centered?

IIRC, it was offset on late models to make room for the hardware on ABS models.

Correct!.......
Scott,  I hope you're not making more it difficult than it needs to be using the FZ1 linkages...... I just used the FJ components and accommodated for the offset on my '91 by using a stack of appropriate washers where necessary to allow for the offset..... That was 4 or 5 years ago and over 100,000 Kms with no problems to report.

FJZ1 1200 - It'll do me just fine.
Timing has much to do with the success of a rain dance.

That's good info, thanks Harvy. Did you use the FZ1 Shock?

NO Scott, originally Ii used the OEM FJ shock and after around a year bought a 3-way Penske.

I'm using the FZ1 shock. Initially my intent was to use all FZ1 suspension components but I couldn't make the Shock link arm fit without losing the center stand, I want to keep the center stand. I have it all fit up now but still need to weld a new upper shock bracket. Should be done today with that. I tried to post a pic of my progress but the upload picture button is not highlighted..disabled?
