Well, today started off like any other day, up and moving by about 5:30am, out of the door a little before 7. I notice when I walk out of the house the gate the allows access to my back yard and back door to my house is ajar. I make sure it is closed every night when I lock my remote garage so the dog can't get out. The gate is what we use to gain access to the house so there is not a lock, just a latch.

I don't think much about it and I'm at the shop a few minutes later. A little after 8 my wife calls and asks if I have moved my sons clothes in the garage that he brings over every Friday night to do his weekly laundry, "No I didn't move them" I tell her and she says, well Ryan is here and they are gone.

So she hangs up and I call her back a moment later asking if she or Ryan unlocked the garage when they went in this morning which the reply is yes, it was locked. I ask are all of the power tools there, lawn mower, weed eater, blower, etc and that is a yes.

So, I go home and when I get home I look at the garage door lock and there is some fresh pry marks in the wood where the forced the door open. I start looking around the garage and there is more than just the clothes baskets missing. All of our luggage we used to go to Australia, my riding leathers which were sitting on my FJ, a whole bunch more of our clothes that were in a cabinet, a couple of tubs that had Christmas decorations, my Christmas tree and the list is still going.

I found a box of new garbage bags kept in the cabinet on the floor next to the FJ and my two bicycles.

I have a sliding garage door which I then notice is not in the proper location which is controlled by the garage door opener. I look at the release lock on the track and it has been engaged to allow the door to just be rolled open and then closed from the outside. So, then I go out and I start seeing items from the garage in the street as they walked away dropping things, one of the dogs coats, the laundry soap lid, and a sock of Ryan's.

So, the back story is, I live across the street from the biggest city park in my town and have a habitual transient issue there. Based on the items taken like only clothing compared to stuff they could easily sell for cash like the blower & weed eater, a fair amount of hand tools, or anything else of "value", it is most likely a transient or three or four who needed new clothes.

So, now instead of being at the shop this weekend working on stuff that needs to get finished, I will be at home installing the camera system I wasn't able to get install before I left for Australia.

What a to screw up the day...

No bueno.
Glad it was just mostly clothes, and that no one in your family was hurt.
But your riding leathers? That's just low.

Can you hook your security cameras up to the 'net so we can watch your place too?  :rofl2:

Sorry to hear of your demise, but glad it was a relatively inexpensive way to discover the weak link in your security.

....I`m still trying to picture a hobo asleep in your leathers....did you call the police?  :bye2:

Sorry to hear about the theft.  It is upsetting to hear.  Glad no one was hurt and that the items are easy to replace.  Along with cameras I would consider some simple wireless trip alarms that will send a signal into the house if someone passes through.  Harbor Freight I think has some cheap wireless alarms.  Might have one to trip an inside alarm and another one to trip on lights and noise ?

One problem I have with cameras is they never seem to be where you need them and most seem to be mounted up high so all you see is the top of someones head or ball cap and the quality of video on the ones I have seen is poor.

Again I am sorry your privacy was violated, it is disturbing.

Should be pretty easy to find the outer wear....not sure that when you do find them that you'll want 'em back.

Except the leathers....

Those clowns obviously don't know who they are messing with....

Rodeo in town? I would check the roadies there first....
