I've been using a basic spec 20w50 recently. Last 5 litres I bought cost about £13 and seems fine after a few hundred miles or so..

I'll probably try something better like the Valvoline VR1 which is about £5 a litre on offer over here in the UK at the moment.

I'm not sold on the expensive oil idea, but oil is like politics on vehicle forums, so the less said the better.

If it makes you feel good to have decent oil in your steed, then all is good, which is why I will try it this summer..

I used rotella t 15w 40 while my bike was dumping fuel in the crankcase weekly and it shifted fine and did not slip, now that it is fixed I'm using yamalube 20w 50, it is about to get warm where I live , there may be better oils out there but I do feel safe with the manufacturers recommendation.
