Hello to all across the world from campti Louisiana.. About 2 years ago I inherited a bike from a buddy that he didn't know much about... He told me that if I could get it running I could have it... I did a little research on it and found that it is the 1984 Yamaha Fj 1100L... This is the first bike I have ever had in my life:).

what I have done so far:

new dynatec cdi box and pickup coil
new accel coils and new spark plugs
new carburetors
took bike to mechanic for compression check

what is still needed:

new front tire and rear tire
clutch lines and clutch cylinders repaired
no upper or lower front fairings..

haven't done much since visit to mechanic...

Well congrats on getting an FJ. That is a lot of motorcycle for a first bike. Check out the brakes before you get it out on the road. Take it easy it can get you in trouble fast. Think about taking a riding class. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the asylum. I highly recommend a rider safety course, an 1100 is a lot of bike to learn on. It is also great bike to learn motorcycle maintenance. They are easy to work on and as a result cost less to maintain.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.
