The XJR1300 C/S cover and clutch pushrod are also the 8mm wider/longer, just like the output shaft. I can get all of those parts brand new if needed.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I was referring to the machining of the c/s sprocket COVER that Higbonzo mentioned.

still wont work.... the clutch slave mounts to the c/s cover....but of course you could always fab a new longer clutch pushrod..... anything is possible if you want it badly enough.

Kookaloo!

Ah, yes... the short bolt. Forgot about that.  :scratch_one-s_head:

Is it necessary to also change the swingarm to use the 5.5" FZR1000 wheel?

No

Thanks.

It seems that the 3.5/5.5 setup is the hot combination. I understand about the VFR1000 c/s sprocket, but it occurred to me that since apparently it's only spacing the chain out 2mm, might it not be possible to just put washers on the c/s cover bolts and thus avoid that bit of machining?

We didn't use the VF1000 sprocket.  It was a Honda 929 sprocket I think.  It had to be machined and yes the counter sprocket cover was machined for clearance.  I love the set up, and would do it again in a heart beat, but I do like the FZ1 swingarm option.  Just a lot more down time to do conversion, and possibly more costly in the long run.  Just the swingarm, no extras, is about  $100 shipped.  I picked up the rear rim for about $70 shipped, and the parts that need to be machined are on the bike and it cost about $300 for all the machine work including shipping. You know you are going to spend some coin gathering all the part that need to go with that FZ1 swingarm.  Not that it is not worth it, but it can become quite costly.

Thanks, Phil,

But Frank's writeup of the FZ1 swingarm mod says it adds 1.5" to the wheelbase - nice if you're into long-distance and/or 1/4-mi. stuff; not so desirable for the twisties. But then that may depend on the year of the swingarm involved, and the 20-lb. weight savings he mentioned would be a good thing...

I guess I need to do more research re: swingarm length by year of FZR1000/FZ1 with 5.5-in. rear wheel!
