AGV Horizon - Anyone Have One?

Still looking for a suitable replacement for my aging Shoei RF1000, and have seen this particular AGV pop up. It appears to be a good value, but some people who have bought them pan the internal visor for its optical quality, and with some, it tends to fall down on its own. Some (others don't) complain of wind noise, but its ventilation is praised.

If anyone out there has one and can provide feedback, it would be appreciated. I have owned Shoeis going back to an RF-800, and have no experience with the AGV brand.

Thanks.

Don't know about the AGV, but I did buy the Shoei GT Air with the integrated sun visor...  excellent helmet.  Ventilation is not quite as good as the RF1100, but still great and the sun visor feature is quite nice.  Also comes with Pinlock screen which, as others have said recently, is an amazing advance in helmet technology.

Yes, I have been looking at the GT-Air, and poring of its reviews. They seemed to be mixed. I'm surprised that some feel that it is more noisy than they thought it would/should be, and some have the same surprises in regards to its ventilation. However, anyone who's owned a Shoei is aware that they're a quality item. But it comes with a cost too. I see some places selling the GT-Air for around $600. That is why I was wondering about AGV's Horizon. It seems to be a very good helmet with good value, and an internal, drop-down, tinted visor like the GT-Air, but at about half (or less) the cost of a GT-Air. I know the adage: "If you think you have a 100 dollar head, buy a 100 dollar helmet." Or something like that. But the AGV looks like a good buy, for what it offers.

I actually had a line on a barely-used GT-Air locally. Unfortunately it was a large, and I wear a medium, so I had to pass on its $175 price. Bummer.

Thanks.

Have you looked at this helmet?

The guys at Atomic Moto are fabulous although they tend toward Adventure and Dual Sport riders.

That HJC, seems like a great middle of the road helmet with a lot of features.

Give Brian at Atomic a call. He'll steer you in the right direction, even if it means sending you elsewhere. 541-728-0690
