Got my new 4WD today.

Nahh...it`s definateley not a jeep! But it does have kick arse tyres,



2 diff locks and even a cross diff lock. No air bag suspension cause they won`t last in the red dirt corrugations of The Top End....Northern Outback Australia. My first drive of this beast is to Cohen then to Normanton and on to a couple of Indegenous settlements in Karumba and one called Doomagee in the Gulf Country.. My second trip (May) is through Mt Isa, Alice Springs on to Darwin and eventually Fitzroy Crossing in Western Australia. ...No I haven`t retired and gone to heaven...a company bought this for me brand new and delivered yesterday....apparently I get a salary too!..so I`ll put up with a little disrespect:-



ummmm...this full width hydraulic lift could handle the sidecar, about 18 FJ`s and a heap of tents!...and and And, if Darren modifies his trailer a smidgen, we can put another 12 Ton of FJ`s on the back, a DR650 and a Barra Rod!



Nice Roo bar with spotties too!



Now how will I hook up tha Freezer!

Perfect for next years Rally in Tassie. Someone find an old school bus for the riders and your new 4x4 for the FJ's and start in Glastone and head south collecting everyone as you go. Then there is only a fee of 2 for the ferry to Tassie. 

Sounds like a party on the bus over a 2-3 day jaunt down the coast.

I'll bet that's the same chassis they use for the CFA tankers.
Fitouts a bit different and the CFA tankers have crew cabs, but otherwise.....

Interestingly, today I did my first "on site" install (Involving plastic manual mixers for the use and handling of cleaning chemicals) at an indigenous community, only a couple of hours West of the Sunshine coast. (No truck required so I took their 4WD landcruiser!).

A discussion came up with my Boss, (don`t ask me how!) about the problems (read cost $$$) with getting qualified Electrical Tradies to the Far out Indegenous communities, esp those in the Gulf of Australia around Mornington Island!   He gave a common example of the freezer rooms (particularly for the Kitchen Food), icing up and causing a dangerous slip hazard. ( ...No meet annual accreditation standard, no get`m money from Gov!)

Generally thinking, I suggested assistance via me building (or buying!) a mobile diesel driven, freezer room that would fit my internally dimensioned 1210mm x 2150mm single axle 2 ton rated, off road, Galvanised trailer that has wind down stability legs. (That I had been thinking of selling....up to this moment!)

He suggested I could tow it behind the Landcruiser. (that they ask me to use for inspection, training and occasional repair work quarterly, to save some petrol money compared to running cost of truck up to The Gulf Country!). I complimented his thinking, and and And, suggested I would of course return such an investment back to our/my (cough cough), workshop on the Sunshine Coast when not in use?....Quick Maths told me I could add around 400kg of freshly frozen native product! ( Be still oh beating heart!)
