Hey guys...here's a look at my current project....and we have only completed half of the roof....I'm hoping to have the roof completed by the time I head to ....well you know...... :mocking: . This roof is 100% conventional framing.......some of the rafters were so long that we had to use 12" LVL's for rafter (L.V.L. -LAMINATED VANEER LUMBER). There is more steel beams in this one house than I used all last year......a lot of the ceilings are either vaulted, raised or barreled. We probably would have already been finished if it weren't for the unusually cold winter we are having. Well enjoy the pics....and if you have any Q's I would be happy to answer.

I used to apply Sheathing & Shear Panels. Anywhere that sheets of 4X8 plywood or chip board would be used, I would be there installing it. That first house looks like a Sheathers nightmare. Forget about Piece Price on that one & go Hourly on the pay.

You got that right JM...a pc workers nightmare...in fact, I did lose money on that job......depressing.......70% of the plywood laid had to be cut to fit...... :dash1:. The good news is.... that money pit lead me to the one I am on now.....seems I scored some big points with the guy I am building for now.......and I am loving it  :yahoo:.....first winter I am actually making money  :good:

I worked as a Sheather in the mid to late 80's. I use to look for large storage buildings being built. There were a lot of them being put up back then. Sometimes 3 stories high. I didn't care for the T&G sub-floors much as they always went slower, but they were still good money makers. The roofs were barely crowned & damn near flat... Those were blow & go. Often make $25+ an hour @.04 cents a square foot. I really liked hanging the shear panel though. Every single storage unit had 3 walls of shear panel at $2.00 a sheet. That was some smooth sailing!

Wish I was still young enough & in good enough shape to still do that. This ole body has been beat up just a bit too much though.

Good luck & watch out for those left over 2X4 braces with 16d nails sticking out.
