Wonder if anyone knows if it is possible to replace the left hand side crankseal without splitting the engine. It's the one behind the ignition pickups and it is leaking pretty badly. The bike was sitting for sometime so it likely hardened and pulled the lip off the seal. It looks like it would be possible to dig out the old seal with the engine in place but if someone else has experience with this, I would appreciate any input.  Thanks, Michael

No problem,
The original has a large lip holding it in and can be tough to get out, but it will come out. The new seal will go right in. You will need to remove the rotor to complete the seal replacement.

Let me know if you need parts or further assistance.

Randy. Any hints as to get the nut undone to remove rotor? My buddy has the same left side leak, and we were going to replace the seal but could not get the nut undone. I was hesitant to put the impact gun on it, worried about crank bearings etc. He decided the leak was not to bad, and has left it alone. But it will have to be done sometime. Any thoughts?
Thanks....

Impact away...no problems in regards to bearing issues. The bolt has tendency to get tighter through heat cycles, and the impact is the only way to get it off.

Thanks Randy. :i_am_so_happy: Maybe it will get done when he does his last oil change before putting it to bed for the winter.
