I was searching for FJ carbs and came across this website who will rebuild carbs for $100. I searched on the web and never saw them mentioned except for they're testimonies. Anyone hear of them or use them? Site is fj1200carburetors. com.

Thanks again!

I still have my 86, rode it the whole summer but still having idle issues.

Haven't heard any comments but I can advise you to not hold your hopes up for the 100.00 deal.  At the very best if you pulled the carbs and sent them in to someone they might tear them down and clean them a bit but that's it.  It will not be a rebuild.  And I would guess that when they tear into them the cost's will go up.  Ever take your car into a shop ?  :good2:

Also figure or ask yourself what is the average labor rate around the U.S. (excluding NY and Calf.) 75 to 100 and hour ? Maybe more, probably not less. So how much work can a knowledgeable mechanic do to your carbs for 100.00 ?  For 100.00 I think you are paying someone to "put it to you" , sorry just an opinion. When you get the carbs back you would have to adjust the fuel air screws and sync the carbs also. IF they messed something up inside during the rebuild then guess what..... pull them out again and send them back ???

Can you rebuild them yourself ?  They really are not that hard with a little help (lots of help here).  In the end you would be a lot better off.  In round numbers the last time I totally rebuilt the FJ carbs I had at least 150 to 200.0 in parts.  You can clean them obviously for a lot less. But even then there are some O rings and gaskets you should replace.  Possably all they need is cleaned.  If that's all then you can probably do it.  If you decide to do it then start a thread here in the "Maintenance" section and you will get all the "how to" and help you need as you go along.

What are your idle issues and what have you tried to fix it ?

I've gotta agree with George, and add that if I ever run into any carb work that I can't handle myself, I'm sending it to RPM.

After seeing what he did with that set I sent him a few months ago, Randy made a believer out of me!   :good:

The price was pretty damned fair, too.

You mean these carbs I rebuilt for you?

I do sell parts to the those guys and they also advertise on eBay, other than that I have no experience with them.

If I can be of assistance shoot me an email.

Seemed like too good a deal, that's why I ask the "experts" on this list! I can't believe the condition
of those carbs! You'll be hearing from me Randy!

Thanks again and Happy New Year!

:hi:

Randy is an excellent choice for the carbs and around here he is probably one of the only "experts" the rest of use just have some experience  :good2:.  Randy can bench flow and sync your carbs so you shouldn't have to do that when you get them back another plus. Have you ever pulled your carbs ?  Let us know, there is any easier and a harder way to do the job.  Randy can also advise you on that.  :morning1:  :hi:
