I was finally getting around to writing something here:

http://fjowners.wikidot.com/models

But being as I've only owned an '86 and an '87, I don't know enough to write the whole page on my own! Guys, help me write this one. (If you don't feel like figuring out how to edit on your own, feel free to just write stuff here and I'll incorporate it myself.)

I'd also like to collect pictures of every stock paint scheme. Pictures related to changes are also welcome.

Go pull out your old reviews and collect some anecdotes and data for us!

Thanks!

I might post up a page like this every once and a while if this works, make it a community project of the week or something.

Not everyone understands what a completely rational process this maintenance of a motorcycle is. They think it's some kind of a knack or some kind of affinity for machines in operation. They are right, but the knack is almost purely a process of reason.

Some good info here including MSRP when new.  http://www.mcnews.com/mcnews/articles/fj1100.htm

I'm always amazed at how versital the FJ is, from long distance Iron Butt riding to drag racing to using the mill for Legends racing.

Kyle,

Here is a set of OEM paint schemes. The photos should be in year order. I may have missed the 94-96 colors.

Added prices, including inflation adjustments.

Added pictures.

Lots more editing!

If the whole article looks daunting, it's much larger because of all the pictures--just click the link tot he bike of your expertise, and look for something wrong or missing!

Here is a 92' Police version. I believe they were used in Washington State.

Interesting Fred........ that picture could also be taken in Aus, as they used the exact same fairing, engine and pannier guard and the panniers on police bikes here.
I guess either Yamaha or another company did the mods for worldwide police models.

Cheers

FJZ1 1200 - It'll do me just fine.
Timing has much to do with the success of a rain dance.

Here is a MFP (Main Force Patrol)bike from Aus. now in Japan.
This is a tongue in cheek paint scheme from the movie "Mad Max".
Talk about your police version of an FJ!

Ooooooh, I like.  Stumbled across a replica black Interceptor and yellow MFP pulled over on their way from a car show recently. Hit the brakes, walked back to where the cops were hassling the owners and took a few photos, the attention to detail was amazing.

But yep, being a big Mad Max fan, maybe my next FJ could be done in MFP livery  :wacko3:

Made lots of small edits based on reading the articles in that picture collection.
