I was heading home from work last Thursday and spotted this storm cloud as I was getting near home, so I snapped it with the phone.......it reminded me of the cloud that develops over Devil's Tower in Wyoming in that movie, as the spaceship arrives.

Timing has much to do with the success of a rain dance.

"Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind" Ken.

The dark grey area at the bottom formed a ring and I would say there was quite an updraught happening......it only lasted 5 or so minutes and then dissipated into the rest of the overcast sky.

You didn't wake up next morning Harv feeling violated or "probed" in any way did you.

Longriders,

When I'm not flyin' on the FJ, I might be flyin' for real, in the sky (Hang Gliding).  HG pilots love clouds; even the strange clouds can tell us stories.  These amazing shots are mammatus clouds, which tell you that things are usually about to get really wild and messy, really soon.
The nearest field, or maybe the next nearest postal zone (with better clouds), will probably be a FINE place to land your hang glider.       On the bike, it may be a good time for the rain gear, or maybe a long stop for a hot meal

Here are a few more interesting shots:

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.
