Hey All
   For some reason front wheel fork modifications don't seem to be as clear to me.
So can someone please set me straight on what front wheel will fit directly on to the 84fj wit minimum fuss in 17".
Also which front end from what bike will fit this bike if I decide to proceed this way.

I put on forks from an 89 FJ, wheel from an 87/88 FZR1000, blue dot calipers (gold dot works as well), knockoff Galfer rotors, braided lines, HH pads, RPM fork valves.

Hey Chiz, the way Monkey Mark did it ^^ is the most common way, but there is another way. Instead of trying to find (and waiting for) a set of '89+ fork lowers you can install a 17" rim on your existing forks.

You need brackets to space your brake calipers out so they will fit on the 298mm dia.rotors used on the 17" rims. (some 17" rims use even larger 320mm dia.rotors)

At the time you use these brackets you want to throw away the old 2 piston FJ caliper and use some modern (R1/6/FZ1,etc) 4 piston blue or gold spot calipers. Really you do, it's a significant upgrade.

For front rims, if your heart is set on a 3.5" wide rim, you can use the '87 or '88 FZR1000 or FZR750 front rims which use the same 15mm front axle you have on your FJ. These are the easiest to use, but hardest to find.
If a 3" wide front rim is fine with you, the oem FJ1200 1989 or later will work. Don't forget that you also need the 298mm rotors (stock FJ size on '89+)

You can use other front rims but beware you will need to install bushings for your 15mm front axle. All of the newer front rims use axles 17mm dia or larger.

Thanks for this as suspected this is not as simple as the back rim which I have and could literally install it today. I guess the simplest is a swap to the later 3" FJ RIM.

Remember, if you keep your fork lowers, you will still need the adapter plates to space out the calipers to fit the rotors on the 3"x 17" FJ rim.

Unfortunately, it's not a simple as just bolting up a '89+ 17" rim. The rotors are different.
