 :wacko3:   G'day.
I should explain, number 13....... Not my favourite, not generally superstitious but on every bike I have 13,000 k mark always gives me grief. Now the fj has taken to jumping out of 2nd . Doesn't engage properly sometimes and under load will pop out and leave me revving my tits off going nowhere lol. Not happy not much I can do. It's got oil in it. It goes brmmmm brrmmmm. What more does it want ? Chuckles.  I'm guessing dead fj soon chuckles. Saw a 91 model in courier mail 5,500 asking price. Makeshift kinda wish for 5 grand lol

G'day Neil, You mean to say your bike only has 13,000km on it. :shok: You sure it's not 113,000km. Not trying to be a smartarse or anything, but it's probably starting to act like a wounded dog that has finally giving up after years of abuse.

Personally, I'm a firm believer of the "look after it and it will look after you" philosophy. Treat it bad and it will  repay you with endless problems, treat it good and you will have years of trouble free motoring.

Don't take it the wrong way, but I've seen your bike in the flesh, And I swore I heard it say 'Help Meeee.' :flag_of_truce:

Too young to be old but old enough to know better.

Sounds like the dreaded 2nd gear issue that I have on my 86'. Most early years have it or get it. The later years have stronger shift forks and are less prone to it. It will get worse if you keep pushing it. I shift at around 6K and avoid the 2nd gear rev-limiter. If I push it past 7K it will start popping out and remind me not to abuse my Ride and Joy. Not sure what RPM you have the issue at, but you could go many years like myself and still enjoy the ride. Otherwise you will need to sell it or drop the engine, split the cases, get the dogs undercut and new stronger shift forks.

G'day
Nah mr monkey, not high revs, bout 4 to 5 grand? And not very frequent, enough to be annoying tho. And yes bones, I DID used to look after it but life threw me a big GET F****** about 2 yrs ago and I really just haven't had the time place or money to fix it . Not whinging its just the way it was, and I only dropped it for the first time 18 months ago or so. The plan has always been to find a house with a garage and get Suzuki going and rego'd and strip and rebuild the fj. And bit more than 113 000, had 98 000 on clock when I bought it and I've done 115 000 on it with just oil changes lol
It's all good. It will come to fruition.
Cheers
Neil
