Fuel Leak

Not only where the float needle seats in the little hole, but the whole seat part (entire needle/seat piece) is pressed into the carb body and has an o-ring in there too.  Famous for leaking..  and easy to miss.

That's good that they are clean, but are the floats, needle and seats working freely ? Also did you check the float height (on both sides) ? On the carb that you know is leaking did you remove the needle and seat, inspect the needle and O ring ?

Can someone post a pic of how the fuel lines at the bottom of the carb are run so I can connect mine the right way. I couldn't find any threads with a full pic of the setup.

You shouldn't have any fuel lines at the bottom of the carbs. Your '86 is a gravity flow fuel system, if your fuel lines are below the cabs then something is wrong.

Below your carbs you do have 2 lines for your float bowl vents and 4 lines for your choke vents......is that what you are asking about?

Get yourself one of those pens that when you turn the body of the pen this tip comes out it is like a stick of compressed fiberglass its used for scrubbing out body chips in preparation for touch up on cars. With this pen rotate a number of times in the float seat to remove any build up works a charm but make sure you have o rings for the seats when you put them back in with a little lube

I am not sure if anyone suggested this, but it is a trick I have used for many years.  Sometimes the floats get stuck, for whatever reason, and this trick has always worked for me unless the carbs where just shot.  Turn off the fuel and then run the carbs completely out of fuel.  Make sure you choke it and run it till it won't start.  Also, make sure it is on the centerstand.  Turn the fuel back on, and whallah, it usually releases the float.  I would also run some Seafoam through the tank directly.  You can also bang on the carbs when they are empty and this will get the float to release if it being a real pita.

Yeah. Do you have any pics. I want to make sure everything is done right.

I have a set of original carbs from an 89 and it has 6 line running off the carbs.  But there is only one inlet line.  This site has a "files section" with an 86 microfiche an you can see all the line/tubes that run off the carbs.

Thank you guys sooo much. It turns out her starting problem was a weak battery she runs fine now. As for the flat spot, I routed the fuel lines the correct way and now she runs smooth. I just need to adjust the carbs because the revs hang when I blip the throttle. I can't tell you how thankful I am for you guys help. man I really appreciate it.
