Hi there, I'm about 2l of oil and the little glass window that monitors oil level is full. How much oil to fill in? The bike is cold . Thanks Eyal  ks

When you drain the oil, not all of the oil is drainable.

A bone dry engine the total amount of oil should be... 4.2L

Oil only change...3.0L

Oil and Filter change...3.35L

Having put 2L of oil in and showing full up on the sight glass, start the bike and run it for a minute or 2. The oil will fill the cooler and other areas of the motor. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes and the oil should not be seen in the sight glass. Now pour in a liter to a liter and a half depending if you changed the filter.

While the upper marker (on the side of the sight glass) is always the target, don't get obsessed about being bang on the mark, oil level is not that critical. The engine is designed to have adequate oil down to the bottom mark and some margin for overfilling. Trouble is, if you overfill beyond the top of the glass you have no idea by how much and too much oil is a bad thing.

The oil level indicator being on the outside of crankcase makes it very sensitive to the bike being level, make sure it is on the centre stand on level ground.
Only ever drain the oil when it is hot. Oil temp plays a big part in how much will drain out. You also want any crud suspended in the oil to drain with it, not settled on the bottom.
Refill with a bit less than you think it will take, do as Fred says, start it to distribute the oil, turn it off and let it settle for while, re check and top off. Check it again after your first ride.
After you have done it a couple of times you will get a feel for how much it takes. Many oil bottles have clear strips or outside markings in litres. Take note of how much you eventually used to get it right and  next time will be a one step operation.
