saw a 2 Front Wheel Trike w/side-by-side passengers?

I saw a really neat trike couple weekends ago outside of Nashville, I'd never seen one like it before. It had 2 front tires with a double / side-by-side front driver/passenger configuration. It had a roll bar/canopy type frame.

It had 1 rear wheel with a 10"-12" wide flat slick looking tire...and it was fast! It went by me quick on I-24 and I could not catch it in traffic but I could hear a sweet 4 cylinder exhaust sound roaring as it disappeared.

I've searched online but can't find one like that or a kit, anybody have a clue? In my brief view as it passed me I could tell it wasn't a hatchet job, very clean lines. I've got an extra 87' motor I've been searching for something I could bolt it on to. I appreciate the note if anyone knows what it was....thanks

Hey Louie, it might have been a T-Rex... It's the only side by side trike I'm aware of...

They build them now with the 1400cc Kawasaki engine ..or the new BMW inline 6.... power to weight at around 5 lbs per hp....very pricey.

Speaking of Trikey type things, I was wondering what the heck I was following home late last night, and its virtually identical to this moped type of semi enclosed trike.

thanks Pat!!...I do believe it was a T-Rex for sure. I tried to catch it but the drag of 4 wheels wouldn't allow me to. I saw the price...ouch! Anybody got a suggestion for something to bolt an FJ motor on?

Remember that our FJ motors need a lot of air to keep them cool.
Water pumpers are much better suited for installations behind cowlings and bodywork.

Ron, I think it's more along the lines of the cost of entry. Motorcycles are great fun. But you assume a lot of risk when you ride one. This risk can be mostly mitigated by continued rider training, agressive descision making, and proper gear. But there are times when even when you are doing everything right, you come across something unexpected and you go down. We are on two wheels after all.

I had an oppourtunity to drive a corvette one time on a closed course. It was amazing how much further I felt comfortable pushing the vehicle than I would have had it been a bike. It wasn't a big deal to have the rear end start coming around. Just steer into it and press on. 

When I retook the Basic Rider Course again I had the oppourtunity to truely flog and max out the little 250 they had me on. It was a GREAT experience to be doing the 30' turn entering at 30mph and doing a sportbike lean. Rolling on full throttle and being settled in the turn. Dragging the peg and exhaust. And running out of cornering traction at the end of the turn. There wasn't anything left. But that was a really controlled enrovonment.

The three wheel thing has a MUCH LOWER cost of entry skills wise. You hop in and get close to the feel of riding, without having to train so much...

That's a good point...I've been riding so long that I forgot how intimidated I was...getting on a proper motorbike for the first time.

The market for a T-Rex and the Can-Am is pretty clear to me.  To your point, those three-wheeled scooters would make it easy for about anyone to get out and ride.  I watched quite a few of those videos...and got into the YouTube vortex of watching related videos until the point I was watching a grandmother eating a piece of cake.    I became very curious as to why they have a "roof" ...even the BMW has one and it's just a two-wheeled scooter.  the best I could come up with is it gets around some hole in the law.  It either allows you to ride without a helmet...or isn't classified as a motorcycle so you don't need a special license for it.
