Did I do this correctly

Happy Thursday all
Just moved my ignition plate slightly clockwise on my 84 and was not sure if I should have gone the other way. Moved it about 2 to 3 mm. Notice what might be a bit more buzz at the foot rests otherwise I am not sure what was accomplished.... Also what is the generally accepted idle speed for a stock bike I guess mine is around 5 to 7 hundred. There is a bit of top end clatter at this rpm nothing like my R3 for sure, I can make it go away if the rev's are turned up a bit. Folks at work say it is noisy mechanically but I don't think they have heard or remember what a big air cooled engine sounds like or how noisy comparatively speaking it is to water cooling
Thanks

Idle should be around 1100, it will take some of the chain slap noise out.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

OK good thanks, what about the ignition plate trick did I go the right way?

That is correct and the idle speed should be 1100 rpm and a lot of the chain noise will go away.
