Hey guys!

I am about to store the FJ for winter and have a question about storing.  I have the tank full of 94 octane gas (NO ETHANOL) and put in the correct amount of Yamaha Fuel Stabilizer and Conditioner.  I have taken the bike for a run as to ensure this mixture has gone through the carbs.  I have heard differing opinions as to whether keep the carbs full of gas so the floats/needles do not stick while others drain the gas or run them dry so they do not "gum up".  :scratch_one-s_head: It will be stored for AT LEAST 7 months.

I need your professional opinions.

WOW you must be in the northern interior or something lots of great riding time still left.. no?? My bro just went for moose and left a week late because it was to hot.

Close the petcock and drain the carbs.

If you leave fuel in the carbs and it evaporates or turn bad you will have to build the carbs.

If it was me I would use a fuel treatment as well before storing or add some Marvel Mystery oil to the fuel and run it through the carbs to make sure the o-rings don't totally dry up.

But if they do, all you have to do is replace some o-rings and not clean up a bunch of rotten fuel from the carbs.

Hey there, Chiz.

Not too bad--you nailed it. I live in the northern interior.  The weather has been wonderful, however, the problem is my insurance runs out at the end of the month.  Besides, my wife wants her side of the garage back.

Hi there, Randy.
I will try draining the carbs this time around.  I recently went through the exercise of cleaning and replacing all the carb bits and I do not want to order any more carb goodies for awhile. Would it be okay to run it dry then shut off the petcock or will there be gas remaining in the bowls??

Drain them, if you try to "run them dry" there will be fuel left in the bottom of the bowls...
