Stop carbs screws from slipping loose

Hey there,
Recently I synced the carbs on my FJ1100 (1985) and the engine buzz was reduced dramatically. In less than 2000 Km the engine started buzzing again, and I think that the sync screws just slipped loose and the carbs went out of sync. I remember reading somewhere a recommendation to use a lightweight glue on the carb screws, and I can't remember what it was. Also, it was recommended to NOT to use blue locktite because the screws are to soft for that stuff. Any ideas what to use for the carb sync screws without getting them to stick too hard?

Thanks,

Eyal

Eyal,

Do your idle screws have the springs under them?

The spring pressure is enough to keep them from moving.

I have never heard such a thing and do not recommend any type of glue or thread locker on them.

Maybe a picture of the screws would help to confirm the proper parts are there.

That's interesting. My carb synch lasts about a day. It goes out the exact same amount between the exact same carbs every time then stays there. It has been the same for the last 75,000 km's.

My mechanic is a lazy bastard and won't do anything about it until the bike needs something more important doing to it, then he will look at it. At least for the day after the synch it is sweet as.
I have just learned to live with it.

I had considered loctite in passing but never gave it any more thought, it's probably not a good idea.

Randy's right, the spring SHOULD hold it in position and if not, there will be a better way than glue or loctite to fix it.'

First though, you need to establish if that is your problem.

Randy will have a solution.
