Hi,

Im stuck I would be very grateful for help. Ive just purchased a 1987 FJ1200 with a Scottoiler which has a broken hose. From what I can tell it appears to be the black breather hose but I cant see where it fixes into the carbs/housing??? Its snapped near the RMV so I cant tell. The bike seems to be letting in air with the hose not fitted and is popping quite a bit at low revs. I cant see the elbow either that would help me to locate the fixing point. Any ideas, pics?? Im stuck :dash1:

Not having connected the scott oiler up that I had, I'm guessing they work off the inlet manifold vaccume , probably connects to the inlet where the carbs connect to the engine , there's a brass spiggot on the inlet rubbers ,, lift up  the fuel tank and you should be able to see what's going on
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

84 Fj1100  effie , with mods
( 88 ) Fj 1200  fairly standard , + blue spots
84 Fj1100 absolutely stock standard, now more stock , fitted with Fj12 twin system , no rusted headers for this felicity jayne

Hmmm, sounds like you are in deep trouble. I would disassemble the gearbox and throw away all parts with teeth on them. I would then fit a belt drive, most people can do this in around 20 minutes, let me know how you get on...oh, by the way if you unplug the breather tube, for the scottoiler from the brass spiggot, and blank off the spiggot until the replacement part arrives from Scottoiler, then it should stop all the popping and farting, not sure if it'll help the bike much though! I'll pop round later on and we can put the tank etc back on so you're good to go on Saturday.
