G`day Greg. Sorry I missed your intro last month. I see Dan made some great suggestions then. Welcome to a great bunch of blokes with many living around Brissie.
Place your order with Randy, http://www.rpmracingca.com/ . How do ya know the Generator is at fault?

Greg,

Give Vic ( WestozXJR) a call or email him  http://yamaha-parts.victordrummond.net

He should be able to help you.

Thanks man i will look at the site. Well my my old battery went flat and so i charged it up etc and it road for a little while and same with my mates battery but then went flat so i thought it might have been the batteries because there were quite old etc so i bought a new battery and put that in. I then went for a ride to my mates house and about half way there the lights were bearly lit. I had the same thing in my 4wd and it was the generator. so thats why i think its the generator. Do you have any other ideas as to what it might be?

Arnie

Greg,

'The General' is a dinky di sparky, so you should let him have his say.

My guess is that the much more likely culprit to your lekky woes is the voltage regulator, a known problem on these bikes.
