Fantastic fork rebuild video.

I've just watched this "how to" video on a complete fork tear down/rebuild. Most of you probably already know how to do the forks but for someone like me it made the whole process seem less scary and complicated. He uses a CBR600 but the job looks pretty much the same. I'm ordering my fork bits from Randy soon, and watching this really helped. (goes for 35min, but well worth it,  :drinks:)

Nice find ! Been thinking about taking mine apart while they are off the bike. Just can't resist taking stuff apart  :rofl2: :rofl2:. It's in my nature...

Just did mine last week. No trouble at all, as long as you know that the Clymer's manual wants you to install the oil seals the wrong way up. To undo the damper rods, I went to the hardware store and bought a large locknut with a 27mm od, (it was actually a standard (1"ish) size), found a massive internal hex (3/8") set screw to put in it, and locked it together by drilling though the flats and inserting a roll pin. Presto! No special tool needed, just a 3/8" hex socket from NAPA.
So here's my observation: I didn't need a seal driver or section of schedule 40 PVC tubing to install the oil seal. I just carefully pressed it in levelly with my fingertips, and when that gave out, went around the perimeter with a machinists pin punch, (flat-ended), and slowly pushed it the rest of the way home.
That was unexpected, I expected to need more force.  :scratch_one-s_head:I felt slightly unfulfilled. :cray:

I've actuall ruined an oil seal after seating it by hand, but not realising id passed the spring clip line, then proceded to belt it in the  :scratch_one-s_head:rest of the way in , glad I had spares, , don't attempt work after being up all night with a sick child
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it
