Hi:

Received an email from Pashnit.com that showed this horn.

130 decibels and it pulses the high beam when activated.  Nice feature.

I think a few others here have them. If you are very patient and can fab up a bracket you can fit one where the standard horn is mounted.
Yes, they are very loud and I have used mine to great effect on occasion.

You do need to remove them annually to oil or they seize up. Mine is about 4 years old and I love it. Great value for money.

Nice idea  :good2:. From reading there has been some reliability issues with that horn and it is a bit bulky to mount in the FJ.

In my reconstruct here I removed the stock horn and bracket then pitched it (lot easier to change out a headlight bulb in a parking lot during a rain storm now !). I spiced the stock headlight wire in front and use that to trigger a relay when I hit the horn button.  A wire feeds B+ back up to the front area. I plan on mounting two Hella Supertones or equivalent on the sides of the FJ.

Here is some spec's. I am NOT promoting this site. They are available from many suppliers and there is also an e bay knock off.

They are a two tone horn system. I read once that they are the same ones that cop's in Europe use except they electronically switch between the 2 horns rapidly so you get that High / low emergency sound. Unsubstantiated trivia.

This is not new to FJ's. Other members have made this mod. and perhaps they can jump in with more information.

My main goal is to get rid of the existing horn to make it easy to service the head light and the increased noise a plus. You can buy headlight modulators and they have a place but expect to change out headlight bulbs more frequently, like a song we are back where we started... changing out bulbs  :good2:
:good2:.

Just more options on the subject.  :bye2:

Good sounding (no pun intended) set up. And kudos to the shoehorning of the Screaming Banshee horn assembly too.

When it comes to making any stock head, tail light flash, it may be a good idea to check your state laws before diving in. I almost pulled the trigger on the purchase of a module that flashes/pulsates the brake light(s) when the brakes are activated. It seems that the law here in MN does not allow it. Never understood the logic in that one, considering how people sometimes get rear ended on bikes.  I'm pretty sure the headlight modulators are fine. At least in my state.

The police here use a modulating headlight on there bikes. Good point on varying state and city laws. Kind of a pain for motorcycle riders considering it's usually in our nature to travel. I think most cops will let you slide if you are out of state but it gives them PC to pull you over and have a talk.... Which could leed to other things..... Personally I have had no bad experiences with LE from any state.

You could go to Harbor Freight and get the $10 'Wolo upgrade' without the headlight flip-flop circuit for a good deal less than $110.  :pardon:

This is exactly what I have.
Mounted it in the space left by the stock air box delete.
Plenty of room and sounds the same as the one in the video!

I enquired about a discount on the screaming banshee. And they said they didn't! Have any promos at the time. But since I enquired he gave me a 10% discount code. I decided to just get the wolo from harbor. But if anyone wants the discount. HADEME39   is the 10% code for the banshee. Don't know if it's a single use or what.

Don't forget if your go to harbor freight. You can get a 20% off any one item and something free like an led flashlight . With the coupons you find in a lot of magazines. So you can get the wolo right now for about $30 and get a free flashlight.

Those exact same horns are sold under all manner of names AND prices. Mine was $45 four years ago.

A LOT of people complain of them not lasting. The trick is to lubricate them periodically. When you think about it, the actual running time of a horn is probably less than one minute a year.
I remove mine occasionally, or when I notice it's getting softer, and oil it.

I remove the plastic horn from the compressor, hook it up to a battery on the bench to spin it and introduce some light oil to the inlet port while spinning (hold a rag over the outlet)

This returns it brand new performance for another year or so.

The banshee system. Is the headlight flasher and horn. And the have. A split horn system so you can mount the compressor and horn separate if space is a problem. But the reason I went with just the wolo is for the reason stated before of possibly burning out the headlight bulb.

Even with the Hella style horns it is a good idea to give them a good blast once and a while. When you are out by your self on a ride. Blast the horn for thirty seconds or so. Doing this once or twice a year keeps horns working like new.
