Hello and a happy labour day long weekend to all in and around and above the 49th
I have decided that I would like to get all the fluid weeping cleared up on this 84 if possible.I have removed the front wheel and am wonderind if I brake loose the damper rod bolts at the bottom of the sliders is there a good chance of success of getting the sliders off to change the fork seals?
There seems to be a bit of play with the left slider wear on the bushes and on slider I guess?
If I can get this done and a new chain riveted on I may be able to get s bit of riding in, decided also not to go down the rabbit hole of changing wheels forks etc etc but will get the right jetting for the UNI filters and maybe next year another 80's superbike. There is still the pan joint to look at valve cover seals and gasket..I have serious doubts about 35,000kilometers indicated on this Joyceville area FJ or is weepage expected from the big air cooled? Dog gone it my 230 thousand ST still not a drop of oil has fallen out.

You know that you need some 'special' tools for the fork seal/bushing fix :scratch_one-s_head:

Let me know if your interested and I'll send you my address (popcorn)

Hi
Thanks for the invite much appreciated. I went out and purchased a threaded bolt and two large nuts for it one acting as a jam nut. Bolt head was 1.102 inches across flats I filed them down a bit so they fit in the hex at top of fork and got that undone. Managed to get the 10,, Allen bolt at bottom of slider out
Anyway I got the whole kit in pieces but needless to say stuff went bouncing onto bench an floor so have not idea of their order of assembly.
In particular the alloy bush at bottom of damper rod and the two thin spacers that go with it, also removed the retainer clip at top of damper rod and removed the disc that the long adjustable rod turns what I assume must be a small coil spring under the disc has escaped somewhere.
I assume the special tool would be to  fit into the top of damper rod to hold it while the 10mm Allen is tightened?....Is there a parts book on line somewhere I can look at in case I muck up the other leg not paying attention?
Thanks Chiz
