Does anyone know if my 86 bolts will work on 89 rim and when I powder coat rims should I thread some into rim as to keep threads clean for re-assembly, I'm going to replace all the bearings that's a no brainer on my part.
Thanks

You'd have to remove the bearings for powdercoating anyway, otherwise the grease runs out of them when the powder gets baked on.

On the ones the I have had done, they just taped off the bolt holes, and they were fine.

AFAIK, the bolts are the same on all models, but the '86 rotors definitely won't fit the '89 rim.

I used the bolts from my 84 discs when swapping over to 89 wheels :good2:, yeah, id block the bolt holes , just cover the mounting face, as you don't see it once the disc /rotor is fitted
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

84 Fj1100  effie , with mods
( 88 ) Fj 1200  fairly standard , + blue spots
84 Fj1100 absolutely stock standard, now more stock , fitted with Fj12 twin system , no rusted headers for this felicity jayne

I'm with not for lib. I didn't block mine off, but I did tap them all out after powder coating. I used my old rotor bolts from my 84 rotors.

Definitely tape over the holes and where the bearing seats.  And the edge of the rim if you want to polish it.

Do yourself a favor, get new bolts for the rotors.  Not that expensive.
