Ceriani front end swap?

There is a guy by me selling an 84 fj1100 for parts. He has a ceriani f1 endurance front end on it with brembo brakes. I am thinking of putting that front end on my 92 fj1200 but am unsure if neck tubes are the same, ceriani forks are 35mm so I would have to swap tree for tree. Will this work?

Well, the 92 Fj has 41 mm forks if my memory doesn't trick  me.
That's about all I can answer you I'm afraid, other will surly chip in on this with more knowledge.
But I guess the difference would mean that a you would need to swap.

35mm seems kind of spindly for a big bike like the FJ.

Only if you have to use the big & heavy springs with the old style fork valves.

Double check that stanchion tube measurement, I suspect the Ceriani to be 45mm (not 35mm)

If the Italian fork tubes are indeed 35mm and since the diameter of the stanchion tubes is not a issue on a 550+ lb. bike,  just install some IAT valves from Randy and call it a day..

Pat, not all healed yet but close. Yep, she is going to live again. It will take a while but all the ugly is off and starting the road back. Straightened up the rear sub frame, got a new fairing and more parts in the pipe line. More time to polish and detail I guess.

Thanks for the input... I believe I will spend the money at RPM and call it a day. Ill add it to the cart as well as the oil cooler kit, spin on filter kit and brake parts. Eliminate the unknown potential issues with a used Italian front end.

That's a very smart idea Scott.

A set R-1 calipers on your '92, 14mm master cylinder, braided ss lines, some trick RPM valves and springs, a nifty RPM brace and a '87/88 FZR 3.5" front rim and you are golden...a very cost effective set up.

I love to tease (certain) folks about the (perceived) benefits of a cartridge fork upside down (USD) front end conversion I did on my '84, but you have to realize that I did this mod. 6 years ago... Long before Randy had his VAT valves for the stock FJ forks...

Today, based on current offerings by RPM, my decision on my front end mods would be different.

"Big R" posted a notice that one was for sale in Las Vegas and I followed up on it. Glad I did!! It is the same color as mine so it saved me having to deal with paint and graphics's. The fairing is a brand new fairing, been in storage and never installed....  "Karma" was speaking and want to know if I was listening.....

I drove down to Las Vegas the next day to pick it up... They are a pain to ship and I didn't want it "drop kicked" by FED ex or UPS. Or stacked on the bottom of a 3000 lbs of cargo....

About 1300 miles round trip. Did it in 20 hrs down an back. Fortunately my car gets 40 mpg (well maybe a bit less on this trip..... ). It was something I had to do. I still have stuff to round up but that's actually good news. Nice to have something to look forward to. "It's not the destination, it's the trip you remember".

Pat: Thanks for the thought. Just having you and the group to digitally lean on helps more than you know.
