So, I was thinking... Being that I am old and have a bit of gout and some arthritis, raising the handlebars up would make riding the long highways a good bit more comfortable. But I also thought.. Raising the bars compromises the sport function of the FJ in the twisties. Also, the only time I really need a more relaxed sit back position is when I'm touring and trying to eat up the miles. In town, I don't generally ride long enough to get uncomfortable with the stock bar position. With that in mind, I came up with a solution that I think will give me the best of both the sport and the tour capabilities of the bike.

I looked around the net for a better solution to these bar offsets but didn't find anything that seemed built for the purpose. I know that in some areas the law says that you must always have your hands on the handle bars, and some states specify the hand grips, so I don't suppose that these are strictly legal to use, but I'll only be using them on the open highway anyhow. Has to be a little safer than going hands free and laying back on the duffel bag on my old KZ750 going cross state.

I'm still looking around for better bottom clamps. I have been riding with this set-up for the last few weeks and can say that the offsets do not interfer with the operation of the bike, nor do they touch either fairing or tank at any position. They give me a 5" rise. And of course, a throttle lock is a must.

I haven't long ride tested them yet, just short runs where the traffic permitted..
