He is entered in "Unlimited" this year, and he is bringing a brand new car.................errrr................Machine!

He is calling it the "RZR X-1" although I don't think there is anything left of the Polaris RZR that it's loosely based on, except the CVT transmission......

He is using a turbocharged, and intercooled Yamaha R1 based engine, that suposedly makes somewhere around 400 horsepower.......... :shok:

With the competition that is showing up this year, I think he is quite a bit out-gunned in the "Unlimited" class, but we'll see how he does?

He had the 7th quickest(I think) time up the mountain last year with his RZR X.

He's probably using the rx-1 motor. Yamaha's sled motor that is based off the r-1 motor. There is a guy getting 638hp out of that motor. For his drag sled. Last I knew he had the record @ 7.80 something and 186 mph on asphalt. A friend of mine has one of his motors in his sled. Last time I watched him run on ice , he did 146mph in 600'. He said that he's got over 100 runs without a problem. He figures they are around 400hp.

Makes sense that it could be the sled based engine, being that he is using basically a snowmobile drive system........

If he had around 600-ish horsepower, he might have a chance at being competetive this year?

With most of the top contenders this year in "Unlimited" sporting somwhere in the 900-1000 horsepower range, I honestly don't think he stands a chance.
But I give kudos to him for the effort.....He is basically a one-man show, and he put a ton of time and effort into his new machine.......

From what I have seen so far of the entries this year, it is gonna be one hell of a show!
I'll be on the mountain that weekend to witness it all live!

Unless something happens to his car, or he flies off the mountain in spectacular fashion, my money is going to be on Sebastien Loeb to set the new overall record............he is looking extremely strong already during testing...

"This vehicle's specs times its 0-60 at 1.8 seconds and 0-150 in just 7 seconds. And we can certainly testify to these insane numbers. To put this into perspective, the fastest Formula One car ever recorded did 0-60 in just 1.6 seconds. The average for modern day F1 cars is 2.1 to 2.7 seconds."-Ryan Randels

The General

Sensational!!!
The Snowy & Tassie has some similar roads. I wonder how much it would cost to send a containers of FJ`s to New Zealand for a Rally?  Say 2016 (popcorn)

He should I be quite a bit lighter and alittle bit lower cg. It would be cool to see the under dog win.  But I agree he is quite out cashed.

The Kiwis have produced some ace drivers!

I'll be rooting for Rhys Millen to defend his crown this year. He has more experience at Pikes Peak, however I just don't think he has enough car to beat Loeb.......

His Hyundai PM580T.

His Dad (Rod), will be returning this year in the Electric class with this entry........

I believe this is the car that won the Electric devision last year, (since Tajima's car caught on fire, and didn't make it very far)

Biggo, that 4-rotor that Mad Mike has is ultra rare, and super sick!

I'm a car-guy so I dig that stuff................

I remember watching the 787B win Lemans..........Very highly engineered car, and very innovative. That engine had variable length velocity stacks, and somewhere around 700 horsepower........

I was fortunate enough to see the 792P race at Watkins Glen at the end of the IMSA GTP era...........I miss those days  :empathy:
