So I talked to the PO and he said that even when he owned the bike it ran a little lean. I did not want to run the bike this way so knowing I would need a rejet I bought pod filters as well. I will be selling my old jets if they are worth anything 117.5 main and a 37.5 pilot I believe.

If your engine is standard 117.5 mains should be fine , but id go up to 40 or 42.5 pilot jets
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

84 Fj1100  effie , with mods
( 88 ) Fj 1200  fairly standard , + blue spots
84 Fj1100 absolutely stock standard, now more stock , fitted with Fj12 twin system , no rusted headers for this felicity jayne

It has a full Vance and Hines exhaust and individual pob filters

40 on the pilots and 112.5 for the main, and move your needle up one notch (move the needle clip down one notch). That should be a good start. Do the "Blip" test and make sure your AIR/FUEL mix is good after the change. And balance the carbs after that many changes.... Report back on how you did....

Yep, all '80s big-bore bikes are lean on the pilots. That was done for the EPA emissions test cycle. The test never gets into the needles, let alone the mains, so all the OEMs went lean on idle/off idle and left the mains alone.
Now, small-bore bikes were just the opposite.... more time was spent on the needles/mains, so they are lean.

Piped and pods?  I'd go to a 122.5 or so main, and a 40 pilot is probably a good start, assuming that's a full pipe rather than just slipons.  Being a size rich won't hurt much, but if you're lean on the main jet it'll fall on its face someplace up high on the tach.

The FJ seems remarkably tolerant of a fairly wide range of jetting options on the main, but can be a pinch fussy about the low rpm stuff.

Ok yeah sounds good, I ordered a kit and was hopeing to have it for the weekend but the tracking shows it will be here Monday :(  I will get it checked out. I am exited to finally have her on the road after this.

Should mention that depending on what kit you use (proper jetting doesn't need a kit, but many people go that route anyhow), some will include jet sizes that don't seem to add up.  Dynojet uses their own numbering system, and FactoryPro will send you a set of 132.5's for use with their own needles.

Yeah I understand just thought this would be the easiest way to get the job done rather than me trying to guess. They are sending me a couple different jet sizes but building the kit around the climate that I live in, and the mods. I also don't know if the needles I have are adjustable at all but the kit I am getting comes with new needles too. Any sugestions on the best ways to get the sqrews loose holding the needles in?
