CBR mirrors... Dope.

So, I saw a pair of OEM Honda CBR 1000RR 2006 mirrors go up on ebay, used, in good shape with no major cosmetic or functional issues, for $50, thought that was a steal, and snatched them up.

Now, going over the threads, it seems like they don't just *fit*, you are supposed to use the base from your stock mirrors.

Well... My mirrors were replace by the PO for emgo's of some kind and are fit on in some weird way... Short version: I don't have the base stalks of the original mirrors anymore.

What's a guy to do?

Not everyone understands what a completely rational process this maintenance of a motorcycle is. They think it's some kind of a knack or some kind of affinity for machines in operation. They are right, but the knack is almost purely a process of reason.

Well, I did this: http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=9300.0

Bases sans mirrors are actually kinda hard to find.

I made some aluminum blocks with two recessed holes to mount to the fairing and two tapped holes to mount the CBR mirrors to for my 86. They are longer than the mirror bases but look pretty good in black.
