With the BMW rear shock mod raising the rear of the bike. The sidestand was way short and taking a lot of weight. I made a sidestand foot extention using posts from this site for the rough idea. I modified mine slightly from the main mod post. I also added my luggage back on, mainly to check the muffler to bag clearance.

Fred,

If you paint that extension black, no one will notice it :-)

Also, you do realize that the luggage to muffler distance is not affected by the change of shock/links/wheel size, right?  Its all fixed to the frame and subframe which hasn't been altered.

BTW  Looking good

Arnie,

Yes, I know there shock didn't have anything to do with the pipe and bag clearance. Sorry, I didn't mention the change in the exhaust. When the bike went down for the head rebuild. I had a different pipe on it. When I got the bike back, the muffler was positioned in a way that was much to high for the bags to work. I saw a photo of Pat Conlon's 89' with the same pipe. His looked much lower and would work with the bags. I found out that the muffler is able to rotate a bit and gave me the clearance that I needed.

The before and after adjustment photos.

I did mine the same way Fred. After experimenting with different height blocks under it in the garage for months, I settled on a height that was perfect, until I used it in the real world, too upright. It took two more adjustments to get it right. I thought this might happen so made mine from a number of plates, like shims, so I just had to unscrew it and remove one at a time until I was happy.
