Fork seals, tried syncing carbs

Replaced the fork seals and dust caps. Drained the fork oil, maybe 300cc for both forks. Put 15w back in, measured spring lengths. Springs were within Haynes spec. Still bottoms out. I'm 6'2", 215 lbs without gear, Race tech recommends the the 1kg/mm, thoughts?

Carbs need a freshening up, tried syncing but the parts don't slide easily. Going to clean them up, see what I'm dealing with and go from there.  Also found out #3 cylinder is randomly firing, in addition to a possible vacuum leak.

Tired of it lurching at highway speeds and now it's suppose to snow, after being 80 yesterday.

Have you considered the RPM fork valves? The valves do more work when the bumps get rough. The lighter springs and oil allow the forks to respond much quicker to absorb the bumps. I love the RPM valves and the planted feel the front has now. Can't wait for the rear shock....
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

I've looked at them, still trying to decide which way to go with this bike.  Going to do a compression test this weekend and see what shape the internals are like.

Suppose to be 83 degrees (28.3C) here Monday... Two nights ago there was a light freeze..... Crazy. Spring time.
Have you pulled your carbs yet ? If you do for a clean or rebuild then you might also replace the O rings in the intake manifolds where they bolt up to the head. They are cheap and easy to do while its apart.

@ Movenon & Yama FJ rider: Thanks,  I'm getting ready to go to court and try and get my girls full time, so funds have been tied up in lawyer fees.  I'll be living at work next week, so one of these paycheck is just going to HAVE to go to my bike needs.  Those parts are on the list immediately after I get the forks ironed out.

I'm still getting up to speed on what front ends to use.  Some places have said I can use certain years of R6's, other say it's the thundercat front end.  What about older FZR forks?  It's an add on CL, so I'm currently waiting to find out what year it is.  In addition he has the rear swing arm and tire too.  I'm trying to remeber if those has 18 rears on them or if they were 17".

Mine is 97 YZF 600 (ie thundercat) front end (wheel, discs, triple, calipers, fender).  Bolts on.
Rear is from same bike....see the file on the bit of machine work you need to do.

Mine, too.

The R6 fork is 43mm and short.

I guess i should clarify, I'm also fine w/ swamping out the triples and repressing the FJ stem.  So I included the R1&6 in that possibel group.  Big question, for now, is what are the differences between the FZR600 and the YZF600.  Still waiting to hear back from Mr. I don't know how to sell anything on CL.

I looked at R6 as well but I am pretty sure they are shorter than R1 which are shorter (about three inches) than the FJ forks.

The FZR600 has a 3" front wheel, and IIRC, is a damper rod fork, so a no-go.

The YZF600R gets you a 3.5" front wheel, a cartridge fork, and a front fender that won't get a huge dimple in it if you happen to leave the bike idle on choke 30 seconds too long while you put your gloves on.

Several others on here are using USD forks and know a lot more than I do about them.

If you don't want to mess with it all, take a look at RPM's fork valve kit.  http://www.rpmracingca.com/proddetail.asp?prod=M%2FC%3ARPMForkValve&cat=33
