Seating question

Greetings,
My wife is actually considering riding with me on my new FJ. I see the Corbin 'Gunfighter and Lady' seat is pretty popular.
Can anyone tell me how well the passenger back rest works? Is it quite firm, supportive? Or are there other brands of backrest you'd recommend? Would a Givi topcase also be useful as a backrest?
Thanks for your input.

Don't consider it a backrest, consider it a buttstop.  Works pretty well in that role, as per the wife.

:hi: I fitted a new-to-me Gunfighter & Lady saddle last year, (recovered this past winter). I do have the backrest but actually have a Givi top box with pad fitted, so don't use it. The wife loves the current set up when we go touring... :good2:

+1.  I wouldn't consider having her back there without it though.  All in all it's a great seat.

Very nice, slips in to a port in the seat and holds firm with a screw. On or off in no time. It is just a small pad for the low back. Seat is a big improvement. Hope this helps.

I have a knock-off backrest for my Gunfighter and Lady seat. You can see it in my Avatar. It is the larger size. 10" x 12", the padding on it is pretty soft. My girlfriend likes it, and it fits well with the Hepco & Becker luggage

If you decide to order a new one make sure the socket for the backrest is included.

I know they didn't used to include it unless you asked for it.

Could someone post a picture of the backrest in the seat (close up). I have a Corbin and it has a hole in the back but I don't know how it would mount.... It does have some Velcro on it

Remove the seat, flip over so the bottom is facing up. Look for a hole where a bolt could go in and screw into the square seat post when it is shoved into the hole in the back (someone is gonna jump on that).

And yes, mine is likely bigger than yours... The older back rests were about twice the size they are now... :blum1: :blum1: :blum1: :blum1:

There are a few different types of Corbin backrests on eBay.

This is an example of a Corbin backrest that FJmonkey shows in his photos.

This is exactly the type of backresr that I have. It is NOT a Corbin, buts fits perfectly into my Corbin seat.
