With the beautiful weather, and some free time, I grabbed Bunny and took her for another ride up the coast.

Route looked like this:

We left Petaluma and made our way to the coast. Not knowing the range of my new FJ I stopped in Bodega for a top off to ensure it would make it back to civilization.

The famous Tides Restaurant, as seen in Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds"

I thought it'd be cool to show her around Fort Ross, the Old Russian fishing settlement, however due to budget cutbacks and staffing issues, the park is closed except on weekends. Next time

My favorite beach, and a must stop for anybody in the area is Stillwater Cove. If you're guud, you can pull your bike right to the beach instead of parking up on the hillside and walking down. Except for the occasional Fish and Game Wardens that come out to inspect the abalone divers, there isn't anyone to worry about when you pass the "Authorized Vehicles Only" sign.

Look for one of these signs, and the parking lot entrance is in the U-turn at the base of the hill.

Beautiful day was beautiful

Stillwater it was not though, not very windy but definitely was not calm on the water.

Next stop was the infamous Skaggs Road. I chose to skip the first third, the narrow, bumpy, leaf covered, sand covered, with oncoming indians in pick-up trucks. Instead we did Annapolis road which cuts around the worst part and brings you back to the cool Sea Ranch Bridge.

The middle of Skaggs was not too bad, lots of the ice-clay laid down, but other then that was not as bad as it was last year with all the repaving work.

The best part of skaggs, was as always, the best part. Perfect road conditions, no traffic, and the only obstacle I saw that made me lose focus on the road was the dead boar on the side. Bunny enjoyed it too because when we stopped at the Lake Sonoma Overlook, she was giggling with an uncontrollable smile, just as I do everytime I do it. Even with going slower with her on the back, it was a fun time for me and I wish all roads were of the same caliber.

The gratuitous shot for family and friends.

Clear skies over the lake, and undisturbed by a single thing, except for the high powered speed boat that started doing laps back and forth.

Practicing with the duper-zoom lens on some crows that were flying around.

Word to the wise, watch for cops on both Skaggs, and Dry Creek leaving Skaggs. Sheriff trucks don't look like sheriff vehicles until they are right behind you with their lights on. :dash1:

Had to do something while he was writing me my performance award...... :dash2: :dash2:

Afterwards, I surprised Bunny by taking her to cyclegear and fitting her out in some gear. I wasn't happy that she didn't have quality pants or boots to ride in so that was my main goal. Wound up trading in a pair of gloves for a set for her, and convinced her to buy herself a jacket. On my side, I got out for less then 100 bux, but all together, it was just under 200. She was very happy with me afterwards, and as it was night by the time we left, she was much warmer too.

Also, shoutout to Cyclegear's return policy as I exchanged a Bilt helmet that was having one of the rubber liners fall off, and they threw in a tinted shield for free. No receipt, no hassle, just done and done, have a nice day.

Anywho, awesome day was awesome and I hope you enjoyed the write up. The season is fast approaching and obviously, I've got the fever to ride! :ride

Koi, you`re making me feel ashamed. I haven`t had time nor weather to get out lateley, but you`re helping me get thru it. (I`m taking me camera next time). I was wondering about the Rusty Bridge with the Rusty Road...What`s ice-clay? Is that just a red gravel they put down for better traction?....excuse my ignorance.....I do wet, but I don`t do cold or ice.
Not gunna show wifey ya write up this time..(saving my pennies for our Aussie Rally)

Glad to help

Ice-clay is what I call that red gravel/sand/clay stuff they put down for traction for cars. For motorcycles it just tends to scare the poop out of you, especially since it seems to only be put down in corners where you need the traction.

Nice job with the pictures, and the video Koi-man!
It gives inspiration to those of us that live in colder/snowier climates, that riding season is just around the corner  :drinks:
