Installed new front tire

Today I mounted my front tire using the "zip tie method". No real problems how ever I did discover that the front low profile tire was a little harder to mount than the rear. But there is a technique that will make it easier
.
When you get as much of the tire on the rim as you can by hand and you have that last 25% not wanting to go over the bead just lube it up good (baby shampoo 50% diluted with water) and rotate the that troublesome spot around to you on a rug and simply kneel on it. Pops right on. No stomping on it, beating it with a hammer, pry bars, screw drivers etc.. Simply kneel firmly on it and it will slip over. Its all in the technique.

Just got done putting new bearings in my freshly powder coated GSXR wheels. Balanced the wheels and then mounted pilot road 3s. To see if they really are so perfect that they don't need the dot. They aren't. Had to move the weights almost all the way to the opposite side. Used the zip tie thing. It worked pretty good.

Same for the rims and PR3's here :). Great minds and all.. Mounting prices vary a lot from location to location but I find its easy money to save.

Mine had to be balanced as any other rim/tire. What color did you end up doing your rims ? I went with black, its a 1990 with light colors on top so I decided to go dark on the bottom. I might polish up the lower fork tubes while the wheel is off. Also been spending some time trying to clean up the rear end (LED taillight) and trimming some of that over sized rear fender. Still eye balling that. With the weather improving I will be motivated to stop working on the bike and start riding it. Needs more work but hey....

I did satin black. Already trimmed the fender on the 86. And did the led tail light with the integrated turn signals. Going to do the 87 all the same. Already got the 2008 gsxr1000 inverted front end. And almost all of the other parts. Now got to start making things.

I don't know if I am up to converting my front end yet. It's going to take a little time to figure out which way I want to go. (Education) After I recover from this lump of $$$ doing the wheels/tires/shock and chain I will have to figure out what is more important to do. I need valve stem seals and that sounds simple enough but you know how that is  when you open that can worms....
Intergrated turn signals sounds interesting. I am just using some smaller than stock turn signals but not as small as some. At present they are mounted in the stock location... More eye ballling... might move them down closer to the plate. I don't want to draw to much attention from the LEO's. Not to much of a problem locally but there are a couple of co located states seem to be more picky.
