Just posted this yesterday in the "Join Me for a Ride" section,  oops!  A little more than a ride I guess   :scratch_one-s_head:

Starting a grand tour April 14/13 to Austin for the MotoGP weekend April 19-21/13

Toronto ON - Indiananpolis IN - Springfield MO - Down through Ozarks to Paris TX (or thereabouts) - then Austin for GP (4nights) - off eastward through Shreveport LA - to Chattanooga TN - Deals Gap on through the Smokies to Greenville SC (to see some old friends for a night and steel a freebie) - then to Newport News VA to see my brother (2 nights) - then north to Altoona PA - through the Alleghenies back to Toronto, by April 29 (?)Phew!  This is the general route, but as you know...

If the weather is crappy to do the Deals Gap-Smoky Mtns we may divert to the Barber Museum in Birmingham AB.

About 1/2 & 1/2 interstate and back road touring.  My other brother in Toronto will be with me on his Yamaha V Twin tractor.  About 6,000 km (3,600 mi.) round trip.  When on the road it looks about 7-8hrs a day.  I hate schedules but I also have a mortgage.

Getting new front discs, clutch line (hopefully not a clutch) and this : http://aviciouscycle.ca/mainpages/productpage.aspx?productid=579

First ride of the year and my arse is telling me, "Gee, thanks, you a-hole".   :ireful:

Anyone is welcome to come along or join up on the way for all or part of journey.

Also thinking of getting a video system for the bike (like GoPro etc) - any suggestions or tips would be welcome.

Just an update on the camera.

I just bought a Contour Air Pro Plus with all the mounting brackets.

http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/05/contour-plus-2-review/

Most of the reviews I read gave it a slight edge over the GoPro, plus it was on sale!

I can barely use my cell phone, so this should be fun.   :wacko2:

If anyone out there has (or had) one, any hints would be welcome.

I make oil

You old pass close to me but we will miss each other by about a week.  I won't be back in the US until April 22.  Be safe and enjoy the trip.  Sounds like an Epic ride.

I'm such a 'tard.

Another update on the camera, I posted a link to a similar one (if that matters)

Heres the right camera (I'm pretty sure)

So again, if anyone has any tips regarding this type of camera, or videoing while on the move in general, feel free to dispense of any advice.

Thanks again.

 :hi: Hi Paul,
Sorry I can't join you on your wee adventure. I'm sure that you will have a great time :good2:

I was down in the Deals Gap area for four days last spring, The Dragon, Diamond Back, Cherohola Skyway, etc, etc...great riding on some of America's finest roads...we had a blast :yahoo:

Unable to help regarding the camera I'm afraid but you have plenty of practice time to get up to speed so you can get some great footage for all to see...  :gamer:

ENJOY... :drinks: (popcorn)

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely, in an attractive & well preserved body...but rather to slide in sideways, body completely worn out and and with your last dying breath screaming, "HOOOYA LIFE, lets try that again"!!!

Thanks for the consideration John, but I will not be attending. Have a nice ride.

Never regret your choices in life ! There is no way to go back to do it again and compare. Make the most and do your best with every decision you make

Funny how I will be on most of those roads through N.C.  They were the squiggliest ones I could find on the map.  I've been to N.C. before, but the Ozarks got lots of squigglies too.  :good2:

Too bad its so far away as I'd like to take a week to get there instead of 4 days.  Maybe when I retire when I'm 90 or so...

I think a movie night get together sometime in the spring may be in order.  I've got gobs of vids (and I'm sure many others do too), so maybe a combo of BBQ + Beer + "Motorcycle Porn" may be in order to start the season off.   :drinks:

Now that's a great idea...friends (new & old), good food, cold beer and reels 'n reels of bike porn = Heaven  :rofl2:  ...
