Well I got my first ambulance ride yesterday. NO it was not do to my
bike. I have been working part time for a neighbor and we where
returning from a job in julian. He went into a turn a little too hot
and started to slide the rear of the truck. He then over corrected
and started to slide the other way. At this point he panicked and hit
the brakes causing the truck to go air born and roll with the first
impact on my side at the A pillar. The cab shifted to the side and
that even with the seat belt tossed my head out the window causing my
head to have a hard hit with the asphalt. There is a 4x3 patch of
road rash descried as hamburger on the top of my head and severe
swelling in my head and neck but NO swelling of the brain. I never
lost conscious and the doc said that it was the most detailed
description of a crash that he had ever been given. When the spinal
surgeon reviewed the ex-ray his first comment was what the hell it
looks like some one picked this guy up in the air by his ankles and
dropped him on his head. I am home looking like hell and attempting
to sleep and rest. I well post a Pic of what I look like on the other
site latter today. For now it is back to bed.

I am up for a few mins and have slept better and feel better then I have any right to.
Here is the pic that I promised on the other list.

Good to hear you survived, Denis!   Seems like there should be a helmet law for cages, too...  :wacko3:

Feel better Denis.  Sound like you were about as luck as you can be for such an accident.

Heal well.

Glad things didn't turn out worse.  How is the driver?

I always said I would wear a hemlet in a car if people wouldn't give me such a hard time.  You never know when an accident will happen, that is why they don't call them "on purposes' ".

Take it easy, you are going to be a hurting unit over the next week or so and you are going to have pains in place you didn't even know you hurt.

Later......

Thanks guys I tired to post a pic but the forum software does not seem to like to play with a Mac. I am doing pretty good except for the scalp which is going to take a LONG time to heal. I would post a pic of what my head looks like but I think that is a little too over the top for even this group. The doc took one look at it and he cringed. Not what you want to see. As to the head I am wait and see there is no hair or skin on a 3x4 inch patch if it heals good if not it will be skin graph time. What can I say. I am not sure how what would have happened if I had a helmet on. The scalp would be a lot better but the down ward stress on the neck would have been a LOT WORSE.
