When is an fj considered high mileage?

Hey guys, I've had my 89 fj for about a year now and was hesitant about buying an old bike with 56,000 miles. Well I just recently borrowed my neighbors compression tester and at 60'000 miles was amazed to see exactly 145 across all four cylinders. At this mileage is there anything that is usually warn or should be checked? I did clutch last year and rebuilt the carbs but that's about it.

If properly cared for I think 300K is about the half life on FJ engine. I think we have a member with over 300K on his original (not rebuilt) engine.

Good for you, that's good compression numbers.
If you don't know the last time they were done, I would suggest checking your valve lash clearances, flush all fluids, fresh plugs and ride her!
As Mark said, a properly maintained FJ can easily go 100-200k miles, even longer.

Enjoy.  Pat

Already adjusted the valves, forgot about that. I guess I'm wondering about cam chain and guides or something like that. Hard to tell I guess when you don't know the history of a bike but being an fj I'm hoping a lot of the miles are open road and not around town. The previous owner already invested in some great upgrades and I want to keep this bike around a long time. The more I drive it the more I like it.

Where you from Brian? Time to get yourself to a rally and around other FJ owners.

I live in milwaukee. I would love to come to a rally but that's probably not going to happen anytime soon with no vacation time from work.
