First off, what I know as a 3CV.
one ugly car...

:shok:

Ok, can someone help me out here and give me a short version of the designations for the different models of bikes?
Like what is a 3CV, 2CV etc. what year of manufacture sort of stuff.

My 86, just for some eye candy.

And here is my '71 Bonnie, just thought I would stick a picture of that in randomly, it makes me fuzzy and warm inside when i do it.

Mostly the number and letter codes are used by owners in Great Britain and Europe. 36Y = 84'/85 1100's, 1TX = 86'/87 1200's, 3CV = 88' through 90' 1200's and 3XW = 91' through 93'. In the US most people use the year as the identifier.

Dunno, do you like to play with hand grenades? (This might be an Americanism.)
I thought mine was a 3CV, but here it's a '92, who's off, me or him?

The design spec of this car was to carry two French farmers and a selection of produce (couple of bags of spuds some carrots and maybe a cabbage or two, cheaply, reliably and in comfort.  This mean the suspension had to be so soft that the rate of body lean means it can't be rolled over!! At any speed!  Provided that is you are travelling backwards.  If you turn too quick at any speed in reverse it rolls onto its back quicker than a Labrador puppy!

Life isn't about having the best, but about making the best of what you have...

Funnily enough it is an fj-esque motor being aircooled, the rest is a flat stroke twin!
Early ones were 2 horse power (deux chevauax- hence 2cv) but rose through 9,12,18 and finally 23hp.

Good condition versions of these will fetch 7k in this part of the world.  Poor ones you can't give away!

You could buy one and genuinely tel people you drive a 'Bond car' as he drove a yellow one in for your eyes only!
