electrical issue 84 fj

I swaped my wiring harness from my parts bike to my working bike. everything hooked up correctly so i think, but now nothing is coming on and when i hit the turn signal, my relay next to the fuses rings loud also when i hit the engine stop switch i hear a clicking at the relay and near the starter relay same for the starter button any tips?

Bad or missing ground perhaps?  I assume you are starting with a freshly charged battery...

Thoughts worth exactly what you paid for them...

Start with the simple stuff, usually will find it there.   (Frankism)

Check your side stand switch.  Could be coincidence when jogging wires.

Carefully check the main fuse, especially if it came over with the parts harness.

Ohm out the wires from the generator to the battery.   I had one overheat with the over voltage and melt down a connector close to the battery box.  

If those don't cover it, open/clean/reconnect all the connectors.  Clean all the tabs and connectors with OCD precision.

Divide and conquer.   When you find it, be sure to post back up for someone down the road (mostly me)   :hi:

thanks guys didnt have to much time to play with the bike but did find that its my relay and side stand relay that is clicking. i tryed it with the side stand up, the buzzing coming from the relay (only when i turn on the blinker) stopped so im jus going to go from there and thanks steve i will proble take you up on that offer one of these weekends

Just to back up a wee bit, why the change in wiring harness?  Was the original one defective?  Was the used one without any known issues?
