has anyone attempted to fit an FZ1 swingarm to a FJ1100?
I have managed to fit the FZ1 arm so far, but when checking  full suspension travel ,the swingarm just touches the tips of the passenger pedal . Are all the pedal mounts same for all FJs? If they are the same, do they mount more outwards on later models? Hope that makes sense.
I am able to space the pedal mounts away from the frame using even amounts of stainless steel washers which gives me about 1/4" space from swingarm to the pedal mounts.

BTW Im fitting a Suzuki rim to this swingarm..yes I know the rim takes a 20mm axle.
Im turning new axle spacers and adjustment blocks for it.
Will post pics as I go along.

axiom-r AKA Tim put 07 R1 front and rear on his FJ, and it looks really good. Makes his FJ look like Yamaha brought the FJ back in 2007. I imagine it handles like a fighter jet now....
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

'86 Ambulance - Bent frame, cracked case, due for an overhaul
'89 Stormy Blue - Suits my Dark Side

ok, so I gather no one has attempted to mount a 1st generation FZ1 swingarm to a FJ1100?

then I will just be a trail blazer and do it... 75% done anyways !! ..just the pedal supports to deal with....

.....could some one get me the measurement of the width between the very tips of the rearmost  passenger pedal mounts from a later FJ1200 please?

thank you,
Tony

Hi mate,

I'm doing some more dismantling on my bike tonight when I get home, I'll run a tape measure over the mounts for you..

I don't know if you need any more R1 parts but I noticed on Nashville, TN Craigslist a guy is parting out a 99' R1 including an Ohlins shock...I have no relation with the ad, if you want to view it I'd imagine Googling Nashville, TN Craigslist would get you there...good luck on your conversion ...OOPPSS...I realize you are using a FZ1 part...sorry, I read Monkey's note about Tim's R1 conversion and I guess that stuck in my thoughts...well, anyway, a guy is parting out a R1, frame and all if anyone's looking for R1 parts, again I don't know anything about the bike or person selling but I'm now wondering if my spare 87' FJ motor would fit in that R1 frame...hmmm?

Hey Tony,

I'm showing 14 inches from inboard points where the exhaust mounts on my 90. If you need a pic, let me know and I'll upload it for you.

Good luck on your mod.

Ah, what the hell, uploaded it anyway. Hope this helps.

I considered the FZ1 swingarm, but went instead with a 03 R1 swingarm. I ought to do a write up on it sometime this winter when its apart. Let me know if i can help at all.
