RPM Fork Valve

I realize there are probably installations instructions with Randy's Fork Valves, but could someone enlighten me just where they go and how they are installed before I purchase a set?  My '84 is sporting '89 forks with .90 KG Race Tech Springs already.  I read somewhere a 'D' shaft needs to be cut, my understanding is that it adjusts the damping but the new valve will take care of that.  Also should run 5W fork oil.  Any other tips/tricks?

Where it goes is between the damping rod and the lower end of the spring.  In the XPD you've used, find 15,42 in the center of the pic.  That's where the RPM (or the RaceTech emulator) valve goes.  The "D" shaped rod which is attached to the fork cap needs to be cut as the valve is in the way and will take care of damping.

Did you not receive the installation instructions? If not, shoot me an email and I can email them to you.

Are you within the weight range of the .95 spring? If not the valves will not function properly resulting in a harsh ride.

You also need to use the recommended Motul 5wt fork oil.

No worries Randy, I haven't ordered them (yet).  Just looking forward to some winter maintenance and tool-time with the FJ this winter.  I like getting my duck's in a row so speak before tackling any projects.
