Greetings from sunny Massachusetts the day before the big election.  Its a pleasure to think about anything besides politics right about now.  Got a 1989 FJ1200 with 20k on it a couple weeks ago.  Ran home and then died.  Been sitting for several years, so now I get to play with carbs in a big way.  In between skiing, and ski patrol which my wife and I do every winter that is.  My wife and i have been riding Harleys for 6 years now, and completed a 2850 mile camping tour of Nova Scotia this summer.  Fantastic!  I've also had an R100RS (BMW), an 1100 Virago, a Yamaha 700 standard, and 4 or 5 bikes in my much younger years.  Rode dirt bikes with my son for several years too.  He's now 21 and on a Triumph Daytona ripping up the Loundon track every chance he gets.  We just got my 26 year old daughter a Yamaha 650 Vstar Classic.  I ride about 12k miles a year on my Harley Electra Glide Classic, which I love and ride much too fast.  I needed a classic, faster, better handling ride to join my son, and commute to work on, saving my Harley for joy rides with my lovely wife on her Softail Deluxe.  Hence my 89 FJ1200 in the dark blue and gold trim.

Ah, the pretty paint job. Nice.

Greetings from NH.
I don't need to know where I'm going, I only need to know where I've been.

Welcome cgold, the FJ is easy to work on, and you have a wealth of knowledge and experience at your finger tips. The search function is a good place to start, then start asking questions. Happy you can join us...
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Great intro Cal! You will fit in fine in this zoo... A family that rides together, etc, etc,..
What our Kookaloo Frank said is very true...When you get your FJ running and fine tuned, don't be surprised when you discover the long legs the FJ enjoys.....
My old friend Paul also has a Harley and he now has realized the long haul benefits of the mighty FJ.
He rides my '92 to the West Coast Rallies. 600-700 mile days are no sweat on the FJ, something he struggles to do on his Harley.

Let us know how we can help you...Welcome!
